PhD Defense

I defended my PhD thesis on January 24 this year. The public talk went quite well and the closed examination was way more pleasant than I had ever imagined. In fact, it was fun to go over the time limit for the closed examination.

I am happy that 'my' professors gave me a lot of support over the years. Thank you Hannes Leitgeb, Stephan Hartmann, Stephan Sellmaier, Holger Andreas, Igor Douven, Andreas Herz, Hans Rott, Benedikt Grothe, Olivier Roy, Julian Nida-Rümelin, and Fiorella Battaglia. Looking back, the time in Munich was great. Not least because of my friends and fellows at the Munich Center for Mathematical Philosophy and the Graduate School of Systemic Neurosciences. Thank you all!

Finally, I feel blessed for the persistent love of my parents, Maria and Konrad Günther. Without them I wouldn't be where I am -- in some obvious and many less obvious senses.

The picture shows my first supervisor, Hannes Leitgeb, and me in front of a visualisation of Lewis's Imaging. Credits to my father who asks to excuse the bad quality of the photo.

Edit: Abstract, Précis, Acknowledgements, and Table of Contents of my dissertation are now available here.
